Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the study and treatment of the supporting structures of teeth (periodontal) or gums, bone and fibers that bind tooth to the bone. Periodontium in the literal translation means “around the tooth”. Periodontal therapy is currently very successful in treating various forms of gingivitis and periodontitis. Preventive therapy and regular check-ups serve that periodontal disease never happens or that, after completion of the periodontal therapy, the patient maintains oral health.
Treatments: initial periodontal therapy, scaling and root planing, removing hard and soft plaque, oral hygiene instruction and individual counseling.
